Adeboye, Kumuyi to face prosecution for violating Twitter ban- Lai Mohammed

Following the Twitter ban, the district vested with the most authority has been given the right to prosecute Nigerians who would default such Ban. As rightly said on Saturday by the minister of justice chief Abubakar Malami(SAN) who recently ordered the arrest and prosecution of anyone found on the social media platform.

Nigeria’s minister of information and culture Lai Mohammad in an interview with BBC Africa on Monday pointed out that the attorney general of the federation and justice retains the prerogative to decide who to prosecute for violating the Twitter ban irrespective of his/her statutory personage.

The General overseer of the redeemed Christian church of God Pastor Enoch Adeboye and the W.F. Kumuyi of Deeper life bible church has been tweeting consistently in defiance to the Twitter ban in the country while answering a question asked concerning this audacious move made by the theological giants, Lai Mohammed responded saying that the attorney has cleared the air already that anyone found on the wrong side would face persecution

“The attorney general has made it clear that if anyone violates the regulation, that such person will be persecuted, I think it is the right of the attorney general to decide who to prosecute

“The government has suspended indefinitely the operations boy twitter in Nigeria because of the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence and the government.

“Also directed the National broadcasting commission to immediately commence the process of licensing all social media operations in Nigeria” he added.

However, the Redeemers theological icon tweeted despite the suspension on Monday, he described Twitter as something that didn’t defile what was constituted in Article 19 of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

His tweet reads;

“The redeemed Christian church of God is domiciled in more than 170 nations and territories. The tweets here are in accordance to Article 19 of the UN(UDHR).”

Seconding such defense, pastor W.F kumuyi in his own words expressed himself while defending his action towards his defaulting of the Twitter ban directive. He said tweets shared on his Twitter handles are targeted at a global audience in more than 5 continents and over 100 Nations.

“In view of the Twitter ban in Nigeria please note that the content shared on this handle is targetted at a global audience in more than 5 continents and over 100 Nations and we share the content from any of these locations”.
