Gunmen raid Nuhu Bamalli polytechnic Zaria: At least one dead, many abducted

It is no news that kidnapping has become an annual sporting event in Nigeria, with the insecurity challenge rising day by day. Once more insurgency has spread its wings over the large space of existing land known as Nigeria.

Hours ago the Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic situated along the Zaria-Kaduna expressway received an unlikely visitor. A bandwagon of armed brute men having a distinct figure of persons still unknown.

Reports have it that the attack was carried out at around 12:30 am on Friday 11, June 2021.

According to the chairman of the academic staff union of the school Aliyu Musa Kofa, the gunmen went all out with blazing guns and shot two students, and kidnapped three others with a couple of staff named, Mr. Habila Nasai from the General studies department and Mr. Adamu Shehu Shika from the accounting department.

This has happened to be the third attack carried out successfully on the learning institute in a single year after the kidnap of a lecturer and his two children from the school in November 2020.

The death of one of the students was confirmed by Aliyu Musa Kofa, he also said that the recently abducted wife of one of the staff and two children has regained their freedom as of the breaking of dawn.

The commissioner of internal affairs in Kaduna, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the attack to BBC assuring all present correspondents as well as surrounding citizens and close relations to the abducted that investigation is still ongoing and as of now, details can’t be relayed.

But an eye-witness with the name Sani Isah, who happens to be a resident told BBC that as of midnight all he could hear were the sounds of gunshots he tried to allay his fears with the thought that it came from a close-by military facility in Zaria.

As contained in BBC pidgin;

“As I dey hear the shots, I think say na from military training or something, na this morning I hear wetin happen”.

Of course, you can only do as much as challenge your mind as to why the continuous attack on schools with students being the main target has been rampant.

In the earliest part of the year, the kidnap of Greenfield varsity students was the main object of every discussion with 5 reportedly pronounced deceased, it had to take a miracle counted and summed up to 20 million naira before the abductee’s regained freedom, a few weeks later, the same thing repeated itself in one of the sisters’ states where 50 students were reported missing from Kagara science school,

Without securing an opportunity to heave a sigh of relief the news of the student’s abducted in kankara secondary school filled all news platforms.

Are the security forces only good at molesting innocent civilians and shooting at law-abiding citizens??.
