Lawmakers raise the retirement age for people with disabilities from 65 to 70.

Yesterday, the House of Representatives approved an amendment bill for the second reading that would raise the retirement age for people with disabilities (PLWDs) from 65 to 70 or 40 years of service.

Babajimi Benson, the amendment’s proponent, claimed that by altering Sections 30 and 32 of the Principal Act and reordering Sections 30-58 as Sections 30-59, the amendment aimed to solve various

The addition of a subsection 30 (1) that calls for raising the retirement age and duration of service from 65 to 70 years or 40 years of service, whichever comes first, is part of the revision, he claimed.

According to him, the second amendment aimed to ensure that the National Commission for Persons Living with Disabilities chairperson would be a person with a disability who also met the requirements for the job.

According to Benson, the purpose of the amendment was to further ensure that people who live with disabilities are treated properly to uphold fairness and justice.

“It is also to give them full participation in the Commission’s decision-making process, which handles their affairs.
