Qatar Airways is pleased to announce an opportunity to join their International HR team based in Lagos, Nigeria as the HR Manager for  Western Africa Region.

Reporting to the Regional HR Business Partner – Africa, as HR Manager Western Africa, you will be responsible for providing HR support for 3 countries in the region, including Nigeria, Ghana, and Ivory Coast.

You will contribute value to the development and implementation of HR strategy in aspects of Recruitment, Organisational Design, Retention, Reward, Employee Relations and Employee Engagement. You will also be in charge of the HR team & provide guidance, including advice to line managers on HR policies, procedures and processes.

Furthermore, you will support all divisions based in the local markets, including Commercial, Airport Services, Cargo and Global Business Services.

Key Accountabilities will include:

  • Working with line managers in a consultancy position, assisting the line managers in comprehending and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Managing an HR team.
  • Providing 5- star HR support to the business, including documentation and approval process.
  • Leading the HR agenda in supporting, coaching and advising the seven countries through the usual HR processes.
  • Management of the development of accurate job descriptions and the recruiting approval process.
  • Operating as the communication hub for the HR team by ensuring that information flows and knowledge are shared.
  • Implementing and guiding the HR component of any Change whatsoever and in their Transformation programs within the six markets.
  • Inputting Human Resources policies such as performance management, disciplinary and absence management.
  • Providing remedies and assistance on the performance evaluation and the development planning procedures.
  • Giving advice on payment and other remuneration problems as well as promotions and transfers.
  • Communicating the required company policies, procedures and processes to the business as expected.
  • Facilitating and providing training and coaching on key HR and Management skills to the business.
  • Conduction of research on Human Resource best practices and recommendations.
  • Gathering data and statistical reports to make informed & commercial HR decisions.
  • Assisting in composing correspondence and memoranda, reports and documents.
  • Assuming the role of local advisor on Employment legislation.
  • Ensuring that the employees take note of the work health requirements and safety aids through induction, instructing, training and overseeing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.  A recognized accreditation in HR.
  • Minimum of five years of HR-related job experience within an International company, including a minimum of two years in an HR Management Role with experience managing multiple countries across Africa.
  • Proven people managerial skills, including experience in employee relationships; strong mentorship and coaching skills.
  • You should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage, inspire and impact people.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing surrounding.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is efficient in the role.
  • Fluency in French is accepted.

You must also be qualified to live and work in Nigeria to be considered for this opportunity. This role would require the individual to travel regularly across the Region.

HR Coordinator – Western Africa

While reporting to the HR Manager – Western Africa, you will be responsible for providing HR support for the countries in the region, including Nigeria, Ghana and Cote D’Ivoire.

You will add value by supporting Ground Services, Commercial, Global Business Services and Cargo line managers in employee relations, compensation and benefits, leadership development, performance management, and talent management.

Accountabilities

  • Provide a range of HR services to employees from joining to the expiry of the contract and assist in all job employment matters.
  • Provide various HR services to support the end-to-end employee experience in all departments, including Commercial, Ground Services, Global Business Services and Cargo.
  • Deal with HR queries from the Head and Regional Office in coordination with Local Managers.
  • Prepare HR documentation for job recruitment, promotion, appointments and salary reviews.
  • Ensure that the local legal requirements are strictly followed.
  • Follow-up on recruitment processes in terms of coordinating with the Local Managers.
  • Ensuring appropriate induction and onboarding of new staff.
  • Supports performance management and disciplinary protocols.
  • Prepare HR reports required by Regional HR Management
  • Follow up and coordinate employee’s Annual Leave Balances, sick leave, and updates in Oracle, and maintain Confidential Documents.
  • Ensuring smooth implementation of HR and Administrative policies.
  • Perform several administrative duties to support HR records and administration requirements in line with complying and keeping record requirements.
  • Coordinated travel and hotel bookings for HR Management, answered correspondence, set up conferences/workshops, travel, budget, payroll, explained policies, coordinated support services, etc.
  • Collect monthly payroll data in coordination with the accountant consultant.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4 years of relevant experience in an HR Coordinator role in a fast-paced, multisite environment
  • Experience in supporting recruitment activities, investigations, grievances and disciplinary matters and providing HR remedies to Line Managers on company policies and procedures.
  • An understandable knowledge of employment law and other government compliance regulations, e.g. health and safety aids.
  • Exposure to HRMS such as Oracle.
  • Airline experience will be a bonus.

This role may require constant travel across the Region.
