365 days + 0.242190 days is what it takes for the Earth to complete one revolution around the sun, which makes a year. Normally, 365 days make a year is a popular saying, but an increase in the days for a leap year is due to the sum of the extra 0.242190 days, which adds one day to the 365 days, making it a leap year.

There are many other things to know about February 29; that extra day added to make it a leap.

1. A leap day is added to a year every four years. It affects the month of February, which is the month that has the shortest number of days in it.
2. The total number of days it takes the Earth to revolve around the sun is 365.242190, but it is plainly stated as 365 days, and the remaining 0.242190 days or 5.81256 hours, is what makes a leap day when multiplied by 4.

7. Those born on February 29 are called leaplings, and they usually celebrate their birthdays every four years, except for those who wish to celebrate it every year and have to choose either February 28 or March 1 to celebrate it.
