Ali Ndume, The Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Senator has admonished the military groups currently in Borno state not to allow their self-confidence to be lost following the attack of some of the military troops by the members of the harmful Boko Haram group.
Ndume stated this in a report titled, “The Fatal Killings of military groups: Your self-confidence must not drop, Ali Ndume tells soldiers.” The former member and Senate leader said that what occurred was not enough to reduce the fighting spirit of the soldiers.
Ndume urged soldiers to remain in the combat against insurgency to end the threat in the country. Ndume stated that all Nigerians must keep on praying and encouraging Lt. General Farouk Yahaya , the Chief of Army Staff, for the good work he has been doing.
Ali Ndume also called upon the Federal Government of Nigeria not to stop in funding the military.
A section of Ali Ndume statement also read, “The slaying of the soldiers between Dikwa-Marte in Borno State is uncalled for. It is so sad and very unfortunate. This incident should not discourage the military troops and the entire Army from continuing the war against insurgents.
“We as Nigerians send our sympathies to the troops family and we pray that Almighty God grant them eternal rest most especially as they died serving their nation and fatherland.”
Dozens of military troops were on their way to Maiduguri, Borno State capital when they were attacked by alleged members of Boko Haram which was linked to ISWAP, and some of them were murdered including some locals.
The event, according to the locals in the area, took place between Marte- Dikwa council regions, at first, locals in the area told our correspondent that about 16 soldiers were killed in the attack, but it was later confirmed that “about 30 soldiers were murdered while others sustained severe gunshot injuries”.
