Are you Feeling Dizzy When you Suddenly Stand up? Here are Some of the Reasons

Have you ever tried standing up suddenly after sitting for a while and felt dizzy or as if your head was spinning? This may make you wonder what causes your sudden sensation when you stand up after sitting down for a while.

Dizziness or a Dizzy feeling is a sensation known as postural hypertension or orthostatic hypertension, which occurs when one’s blood pressure is suddenly lowered.

When you are sitting or lying down, your heart rate is reduced, and this is one of the reasons why you suddenly feel dizzy when you stand up because your blood pressure is trying to adjust to the position by increasing your heart rate so that blood can be distributed to all part of the body.

Sometimes, dizziness is caused by an ailment or sickness that affects the body and makes it unable to maintain balance. Keep reading this article to discover why you feel dizzy when standing up.

Reasons Why you Feel Dizzy When you Suddenly stand up

Several health conditions can be behind the sudden dizziness you feel, and they include:

1. Anaemia: The body needs oxygen to survive, and this is distributed by the red blood cells in the human body. When the red blood cells are very low, this can lead to a lack of oxygen in the body, resulting in the lightheaded feeling you experience.

2. Dehydration: Dehydration is one of the most dangerous health conditions. It is the lack of water in the human body. The body needs water to function perfectly, but when it is low, it makes it hard for the body to regulate blood pressure.

Sweating during exercises can reduce the fluid levels in your body and result in dehydration.

3. Blood sugar Fluctuation: This is mostly felt by people who have blood sugar swings, and a sudden drop in your blood sugar can contribute to dizziness.

4. Heart Conditions: Certain heart conditions can harm the body by affecting the heart pump’s blood rate, resulting in dizziness and other symptoms.

5. Intake of certain Medications: Some medications are highly concentrated and have side effects on the body, while others, like blood pressure medication, antidepressants, diuretics and many others, can cause lightheadedness.

6. Hot Weather: Hot weather can lead to dilation of blood vessels, thereby reducing blood pressure.

Dizziness can indicate a serious ailment attack or might just be a sign that you need rest. But in any of the ways, do not overlook it; immediately rush to your healthcare provider for the best guidance.
