Childhood Trafficking -The Phenomenon of Childhood Trafficking In Nigeria; No 4 will shock you

Childhood Trafficking -A Crackdown On The Phenomenon of Childhood Trafficking In Nigeria

Trafficking, one of the most occurring phenomena worldwide. Nigeria without being exempted has had its own cases of trafficking. With the tumultuous reality every Nigeria faces; the surging threats from the north and the insurgent activities rising, have made the trafficking rate in Nigeria increase prosperously.

The region of armed conflict is not under any jurisdiction, making it easy for perpetrators to carry out dubious acts and remain invincible.

There are sheer cases of criminals breaking into homes and catering away with kids, such angles in life are left untouched although the government promises to tackle such, their lack of looseness and transparency towards that area has proven that their actions and effort aren’t proportional to the promises made.

The government indirectly contributes to such vices as cases of trafficking aren’t properly scrutinized. But playing the blame game never solves anything, everyone is accountable for the rapid development of this phenomenon.

Once more ignorance raises its ugly head

The disregard for human right and the ignorance surrounding it are one of the main causes of trafficking, months back we could see a clear breach of the constitution as humans were subjected to inhumane treatment making the freedom of movements theoretical, that just shows how much the country cares less for its citizens.

Imagine how possible it would be for a total amount of 300 plus students to be moved from their school by unknown men to an unknown destination and no one could give an account of what transpired, if it happened only once, it’s clearly a security fluke, but for it to happen consecutively on several occasions, it’s clear that the value of human lives is much lower than its country currency when weighed on a global scale.

This lackadaisical attitude and gross ignorance have subjected many children to trafficking. The criminals play on the ignorance of people to use their children for slavery and other illicit acts.

A number of people aren’t still familiar with their rights as a citizen this gives criminals a foothold.

Money is the root of all evil.

Greed pilots a lot of crimes in Nigeria, the like of corruption, laundering, and even trafficking. The desire for more money has driven many to pollute themselves as well as the country by indulging in child labor and trafficking, for some reason someone said “rules are meant to be broken” many traffickers take this to mind even though they know several laws kicks against child trafficking and prostitution.

Poverty.

Nigeria having a robust economy with the potentials to expand even further has no proof of wealthy living among her citizens. Even those with qualifications are having difficulties living comfortably, imagine imploring everything left in you but nothing turns out right, and doing everything right to gain wealth but nothing is left for you. You’ll become frustrated.

Many experiences such, with the outburst of impoverishment in the country many find solutions to their problems in nefarious acts some of which involves child exploitation, children easily fall victim of such because of the poor state of their parents, they are deceived with the fact that they are their parents biggest assets, and because trafficking is the highest paying illegal job they fall a victim quickly.

Chasing a better tomorrow

You can be whatever you want to be, the actualization of that statement is incompatible with this country, dreams and aspirations sometimes propel pubescent aspirants to become victims of trafficking.

They are promised a better tomorrow beyond the boundaries of Nigeria, such an alluring offer that proves difficult to turn down, the children take the bait, sometimes parents spearhead such hoping to meet a well-established individual in few years time.

It is very important to equip yourself with the purpose of trafficking

Sexual exploitation: most children when trafficked are subjected to sell their bodies for money from their children pornography is being created and sold.

Domestic work: the creation of “house boy and girls” came to life as a result of a promise, traffickers deceive the parent of the child, that their kid would have a better future with them(the traffickers), only to sell them days later to people searching for a housemaid.

Organ harvesting: most children are stripped of some organs whether essential or not, and sold for a huge amount of money at the black market.

Illicit adoption.

Labor exploitation

Military conscription.

Trafficking is one of the many numerous problems Nigeria faces, most children are in danger as they are the number one target. Please engage me with thoughts provoking questions as regards this topic and principle.
