Scholarship Coverage
Italian Government Scholarship provides the recipient with the following benefits:
- Health and Medical Insurance: For the term of the project, grantees will be protected by health and medical/accident insurance that MAECI has arranged for. Events resulting from pre-existing pathological and physical problems are not covered by insurance.
- Tuition Fees: Depending on each university’s regulation, grantees may not be required to pay tuition or enrollment fees. Italian language and culture classes, for which enrollment fees are required, are not exempt.
- Financial Grant: On a quarterly basis, grantees will receive a monthly allowance of 900 euros, which will be deposited into their Italian bank account.
Eligibility Criteria for Italian Government Scholarship
The following are the eligibility criteria for the Italian Government Scholarship for International Students:
- Required Language: English
- Eligible Countries: Students from eligible foreign countries
- With the exception of renewals, candidates for Master’s Degree/Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) Programs/Italian Language and Culture Courses must be under 28 years old before the call’s deadline.
- Applications must only be submitted by foreign students not residing in Italy.
- With the exception of renewals, candidates for PhD programs must not be older than 30 before the call’s deadline.
- Proof of proficiency in Italian is not required for courses entirely taught in English.
- By the time of this call, candidates for research projects under academic supervision must not be older than 40.
- In this situation, candidates need to present a certificate attesting to their English language competency. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) requires a minimum level of B2.
- The completion of a bachelor’s degree in the applicant’s home country is a prerequisite for admission to the first year of a Master’s program in Italy. Applicants who demonstrate that they are on track with their first-year studies are admitted to the second year.
- Candidates for courses in Italian language and culture are required to present a certificate attesting to their language skills. According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), a minimum level of A2 is necessary.
- To be admitted to an Italian AFAM Institute, applicants need to meet the entry requirements and academic qualifications established by the relevant University/Institute.
- In addition to meeting the academic prerequisites and entrance requirements set by the university, applicants must additionally submit a letter of acceptance on behalf of the appropriate Italian university in order to be admitted to a PhD program in Italy.
