- Dial *996*11-digit-NIN# (with any space)
- Click on the send/call button on your screens to send it.
- You will receive an SMS shortly afterwards; read it and follow any other instructions.
- You have successfully linked your NIN to your MTN mobile phone number.

How to Link Your NIN to Your MTN Mobile Phone Number via the SMS Method
To link your NIN through the SMS Method, these are the steps to follow:
- Send your NIN-your eleven-digit NIN as a text message to 996, e.g. If your NIN is 21222324256, then send NIN-21222324256 to 996 in an SMS
Please Note: After Uploading your NIN, MTN will begin the NIN verification process with NIMC. If your NIN is verified successfully, there will be no other process.
But if it is not possible to verify the NIN you have submitted, then you have to visit to a NIN enrollment centre in person for help.
