Nigerian Election Winner – INEC Declares Bola Tinubu Winner Of 2023 Presidential Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

On Wednesday morning at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, INEC Chairman Yakubu Mahmood proclaimed Tinubu the election winner and president-elect.

The presidential election was held on Saturday throughout the 36 states of the union and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Violence, logistical issues, the theft of BVAS, and other problems caused the election to be postponed until Sunday in some polling places across several states.

State collation officers for the presidential election (SCOPs) presented the election results to the INEC chairman at the National Collation Center following collation at state INEC collation centres.

Mahmood declared that Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, had won the election with a majority of the votes cast in Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), received 6,984,520 votes; Peter Obi of the Labour Party received 6,101,533 votes and finished third; and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), who received 1,496,687 votes, were all opponents of the APC candidate.

Tinubu, Obi, and Atiku won 12 of the 36 states and the FCT, while Kwankwaso prevailed in Kano State.

Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Benue, Rivers, Borno, Zamfara, Jigawa, Ondo, Kogi, and Niger States are the 12 states Tinubu won.

Taraba, Osun, Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Kaduna, Sokoto, Yobe, Bayelsa, Kebbi, Bauchi, Gombe, and Katsina were won by PDP candidate Atiku.

Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Abia, Delta, Edo, FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, Lagos, and Cross River were among the states that Obi won.
