Over the next three years, 36 new Stormzy Scholarships will be granted to Black students, adding to the existing count of 81 scholarships awarded within eight years from 2018 to 2026.
The impact of ‘The Stormzy Effect’ persists: Applications from Black students in the UK are on the rise. In 2022 there was a noteworthy increase, with 141 Black students accepted (marking a substantial 131% rise compared to 2018).
Since its inception in 2018, the Stormzy Scholarship initiative has offered financial assistance to 32 Black students in the UK, leading to a transformative impact on their university journeys. Initially launched with two students annually, the program expanded its scope in 2021.
In collaboration with HSBC UK, Stormzy’s #Merky Foundation is set to grant scholarships to a minimum of 10 Black students commencing their studies in the autumn of 2023.
Over the past three years, more than 400 UK Black students have begun their educational pursuits at Cambridge.
Nevertheless, there remains an ongoing commitment to ensure that UK Black students not only apply for enrollment at the University but also feel a sense of belonging and thrive to achieve their utmost potential.
