Ohanaeze youths request Tinubu to sack Beta Edu and Tunji-Ojo

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has asked President Tinubu to sack Beta Edu and Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and Minister of Interior, respectively.

 

The Igbo sociocultural organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, the dynamic force advocating for Igbo interests, has delivered a compelling message to President Bola Tinubu, urging decisive action on Beta Edu and Tunji-Ojo.

During an electrifying press briefing in Enugu, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President, passionately called for the removal of the embattled Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, and her counterpart, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo of the Interior Ministry.

In a riveting plea, Okwu emphasized the imperative of President Tinubu’s commitment to slashing governance costs and eradicating corruption. Drawing attention to recent developments, he reminded everyone of Edu’s suspension following a controversial memo involving a hefty sum, and Tunji-Ojo’s alleged involvement in receiving substantial consultancy fees for work tied to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

During the press briefing, Okwu, echoing the sentiments of concerned Nigerians, expressed alarm over the pervasive corruption within the Humanitarian Ministry, describing it as a glaring drain on the nation’s resources.

With heartfelt concern, he highlighted the stark contrast between the suffering of Nigerian youths in unemployment and poverty and the ostentatious lifestyles of a privileged few.

Recounting President Tinubu’s recent commitment to fighting corruption during his visit to Imo State, Okwu praised the president’s stance on removing fuel subsidies. However, he urged President Tinubu to translate these words into action by promptly relieving Edu and Tunji-Ojo of their ministerial duties.

In a bold call to action, Okwu stressed that the dismissal of these ministers would not only uphold President Tinubu’s anti-corruption stance but also serve as a powerful deterrent to others within the administration.
