ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship offers scholarship opportunities to talented students from developing countries to pursue PhD studies in China.
This scholarship program is jointly provided by the Alliance of International Science Organisations (ANSO), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in collaboration with UNESCO. - Monthly stipend: CNY 6,000 or 7,000 (based on qualification test performance) for up to 48 months.

Eligibility Criteria Of The ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship
To qualify for the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship 2025-2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals.
- Applicants must come from developing countries (“countries in the South”), as defined by TWAS.
- Applicants for the PhD programme, must be born on or after 1 January 1990 (inclusive).
- Applicants must meet the admission criteria for international students at USTC, UCAS, or other CAS institutes.
- Applicants must not already be pursuing a PhD in China.
- Applicants cannot apply to both USTC and UCAS under this scholarship category.
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English or Chinese (language certificate or equivalent proof required).
Host Institutions
Applicants will be admitted to one of the following prestigious Chinese institutions:
- University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)
- University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS)
- Other Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) institutes
These institutions are renowned for their strong research infrastructure and world-class faculty supervision.
