These prototypes were created under the Research for Impact (R4i) initiative, launched by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in conjunction with Innov8 Hub. The lecturers were handpicked to participate in the initiative.
They were subsequently divided into four teams, each tasked with developing a prototype to address a specific challenge in Nigerian society.
Team one, known as ‘Responsible Consumption and Production,’ created a smart grain storage solution that utilized an approach to prevent pest infestations in stored grains, thereby ensuring they remain safe for consumption.

Team two, called ‘No Poverty,’ designed a Float House named “Gimbaliya,” built using low-density materials that allow it to float on water.
Team three, which focused on ‘Zero Hunger,’ developed an Automated Ultrasonic Solar-Powered Sprayer and broad-spectrum bio-pesticides, which can be used to control pests in an eco-friendly manner, anchored on SDG 2-Zero Hunger.
Lastly, team four, focused on ‘Quality Education,’ developed a mobile application called ‘E-Access,’ which caters to lecturers who develop lecture materials and students needing lecture materials.
Overall, this group of Nigerian lecturers has developed four prototype innovations that have the potential to address some of the country’s most pressing challenges.
