Before registering for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), there are specific requirements that prospective corps members must meet and necessary documents to keep handy.

Here Are The Key NYSC Registration Requirements

Eligibility: Prospective corps members should check and ensure that their names appear on the NYSC Senate list, because only those whose names are uploaded in the NYSC list will be eligible to register online for service.

This also includes being a Nigerian graduate under the age of 30 from a university that is recognised in Nigeria or abroad.

Online Registration Process: To register online for the NYSC, prospective corps members are required to visit the official NYSC portal at https://portal.nysc.org.ng to complete the registration process.

It is important to note that all NYSC-related activities, including registration, printing of call-up letters, and checking of deployment details, can only be done on the NYSC official website through the Prospective Corps Members’ portal.

The NYSC online registration portal can be accessed by Nigerian and foreign-trained graduates, where PCMs are required to upload clear passport photos and provide their personal details.  

Provide Required Information: When registering for NYSC, you will be required to provide personal details, educational qualifications and other relevant information. Ensure all the details are accurate to avoid any complications.

It is essential to note that the NYSC has updated certain aspects, including live image capture through a webcam and national identification number (NIN) verification.

Print Call-Up Letter: After successful registration, prospective corps members will receive a call-up letter indicating their batch, orientation camp, and the date of reporting. They are required to print this letter as it is essential for reporting to camp.

Reporting to Orientation Camp: The next step for prospective corps members after printing the call-up letter is to proceed to their assigned NYSC orientation camp on the specified date. At the camp, they will undergo a 21-day orientation program that includes physical exercises, lectures, and other activities aimed at preparing them for their service year.

Key Nysc Registration Guidelines

1. The NYSC website address, where prospective corps members can carry out activities such as online registration, includes the following.

2. Prospective Corps members should ensure that they have functional e-mail addresses that they can access and Nigerian (GSM) telephone numbers with which to register. They will use the Email address and password to log in to the NYSC portal subsequently, and are advised to keep it safe
3. Locally trained prospective Corps members are expected to use the correct Matriculation numbers to register.
4. For locally-trained graduates, only those whose names appear in the Senate/Academic Board Approved Result lists submitted by their Institutions will have access to the register on the NYSC portal.
5. Anybody who presents any fake document will be demobilised, decamped and handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.
6. Prospective corps members should ensure that Passport photographs used meet the following specifications:

• Ensure your face (eyes, nose, ears, mouth and jaw) is fully shown without bending
• Ensure the picture fills the frame and is centralised
• Ensure the Photo background is white or off-white with no shadow 

7. Prospective Corps members who do not want to pay the N2,786.24 have the option of going to their schools to collect their call-up numbers and call-up letters.

8. On no account should prospective corps members register by PROXY. They should also remember the fingers used for their biometric capturing, as these will be used for verification at the orientation camps. Those who cannot be verified with their biometrics at the orientation camp will not be registered.

9. Only prospective corps members who want their call-up numbers sent to them through SMS and wish to PRINT their call-up letters online are expected to pay N2,786.24.

10. All prospective corps members who paid for the online registration before but were not mobilised need not pay again.

11. Married female prospective corps members (whether locally or foreign-trained) should upload copies of their marriage Certificates, evidence of Change of name and their husbands’ place of domicile during registration.

12. The orientation camp is not ideal for pregnant and nursing mothers. Prospective corps members in this category are therefore to note that they will not be accommodated.

14. All Part-time graduates are expected to register online and print the exclusion letter online.
15. Foreign-trained graduates are to use Nigerian Phone numbers during the online registration.
16. Prospective corps members PCM must personally monitor their online registration to avoid unnecessary errors.
17. Prospective corps members should visit Cyber Café Operators approved by NYSC to carry out their registrations.
18. The webcam will be used for facial capturing during registration, and applicants must be well-dressed for their passport photograph.

They Are Some Special Cases That Require Extra Information During Nysc Registration. They Include The Following.

• Married female prospective corps members should upload copies of their marriage certificates, evidence of change of name, and their husbands’ place of domicile during registration.
• Foreign-trained Nigerian graduates must present the original certificate for validation purposes.
• For those with health issues who want to relocate, a medical report is required.
