The first thing you should do before writing a personal development plan is to do a SWOT analysis on yourself.  Here, you need to examine your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This could be in terms of knowledge, skills, or talent that you have.

  1. Set Clear And Achievable Goals        

At this point, you already know where you excel and where you need to improve. The next thing is to set clear and achievable goals.  The goals you set need to be measurable, time-focused, and have a clear task that needs to be done during that period.

  1. Identify The Key Areas You Want To Develop

For instance, someone who loves speaking and attending to people. You will need to create a personal development plan to help build your potential through courses and live classes.

Apart from taking courses, you can also practice periodically to help you improve.

  1. Create An Action Plan

The next thing is to create an action plan. Even if you spend the entire year writing your personal development plan and you do not take any action towards achieving it, there will be no improvement. It takes discipline and dedication to plan and follow through with it.

  1. Make A Timetable

After creating an action plan, you also need to make a timetable that will guide your implementation of the plan. For example, an overweight person who wants to lose weight can decide to start with three push-ups a day and increase them as the day goes by.

To create a timetable, use your calendar as a tracker; simply tick each date after completing the plan.

The best way to motivate yourself is to reward yourself each time you complete a milestone.  You can choose to give yourself a treat, hang out with friends and do some recreational activities.

Career: as a person, if you can build your entrepreneurship skills, such as marketing, presentation, public speaking, and tech skills, you will have the  advantage  of attracting more opportunities, because lots of jobs out there are looking for these skills, along with academic qualifications

Mindset: The mind is the powerhouse of the body. What you feed your mind is what will reflect in your life. Taking for example someone who feeds on negative news every day, such a person will get a direct effect of that.

The best way to build your mindset is to listen to something inspirational, like podcasts, audiobooks and more. You also need to dedicate some time to reading books that can open your mind to new knowledge in your field or specialisation.

Education: This goes beyond going to school. Yes, you attend school, gain knowledge, and receive a certificate; however, there are other courses not offered in school that are essential for growth and mental development.

You can choose to further your education and gain more knowledge in your area of specialisation, which makes you an authority in that field.
