Breaking News – South-East Govs Name Second Niger Bridge After The Outgoing President Mohammed Buhari
The South-East geo-political zone governors have honoured President Muhammadu Buhari by naming the Second Niger Bridge after him.
This announcement was made by Bashir Ahmad, the Special Assistant to the President of Digital Communications, who further revealed that the bridge is scheduled to be commissioned today.
A tweet stated that the Second Niger Bridge will now be officially referred to as the Buhari Second Niger Bridge.
The bridge is set to be commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari today, as confirmed by the tweet from the Special Assistant to the President on Digital/New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi.
“Following consultations, the Governors of the South-East have agreed that the Second Niger Bridge shall be named the Muhammadu Buhari Second Niger Bridge,” his tweet read.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has opposed the decision to name the bridge after President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement issued by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, they rejected naming the bridge after Buhari, citing that he had neglected their people during his time in power.
