POWER SUPPLY OUTAGE: POWER STATIONS TO BEGIN
power supply outage: power stations to begin restoration process. Despite the recent power outages in the country, the National Grid has commenced a steady restoration process.
However, the Transmission Company of Nigeria has not given any form of explanation as to what led to the shutdown, which occurred on Sunday.
According to grid data released by the National System operator, the grid had been restored to 623.20 Megawatts with about seven functional plants in the early hours of Monday.
Last week, the Minister of Power, said the country’s poor supply of electricity was due to gas supply shortages.
According to the Minister’s media aide, the “decrease in energy production was attributed to the temporary suspension of the Oben gas plant to resolve the fixing of vital gas processing equipment.”
“Regrettably, the event occurred at a period when all the other power stations utilizing alternative gas sources were conducting maintenance checks and capacity testing,” the ministry said.
The public has been guaranteed that the repairs will be completed this week and everything will return to normalize as there are measures put in place to increase output in the country.
