Ahead of the 2022/23 La Liga season, Joan Sicilia, the head coach of Almeria the newly promoted La Liga side has backed his striker Umar Sadiq to cause a lot of damages for Spain’s top clubs when the new season begins.
Sadiq, the Nigeria international, has become one of the most valuable players at the club ‘Almeria’ in the last two seasons, playing a vital role as the club ‘Almeria’ secured advancement to the top division ‘La Liga’ as the champions of the Segunda Division after eight years of hard work.
The 25-year-old ‘Sadiq’ outstanding performance has drawn interests from several giant clubs in Europe, with Villarreal and Sevilla the most interested in the Almeria forward.
But Rubi is very positive that the Spanish La Liga newcomers ‘Almeria’ can keep hold of their sensational striker, who he has backed to cause damage when the new season commences.
“As a staff, our dream would be for Sadiq Umar to continue with the team ‘Almeria’ in the First Division,” Rubi stated this at a news conference as per ‘Diario de Almeria’.
“Because I think his brilliance could be much better in La Liga than in the Second Division, this is simply because of a space issue, with the probability of running, he will cause a lot of damage.”
The 52-year-old has however denied to rule out the risk of losing his most valued asset. “I think he (Umar Sadiq) will be with us at Almeria,” Rubi added.
“And in the end, he insists to leave, and he is no longer a player of ‘Almeria, it is because the club apprehends that the economic part is good, which is enough to allocate that money to bring a sensational footballer in that position.”
The club ‘Almeria’ will host the La Liga champions Real Madrid in their first La Liga match of the 2022/23 season on August 14.
