Wura Ola Replaces Jere – Wura Ola The Acting Comptroller General
The Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board has designated Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola as the interim Comptroller General of Immigration.
This board supervises various organizations, including the Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Wura-Ola will assume the position previously held by Isah Jere, whose term officially ended on April 24 but was extended by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
However, in the letter dated May 26, 2023, signed by the board’s Secretary, Ja’afaru Ahmed, Wura- Ola appointed the acting Comptroller General. Her appointment will commence on May 30, 2023.
In a letter titled “Letter of approval to cover duties of the office of the Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration,” it was stated, “I write to inform you that the Chairman of the Board has approved for you to assume the responsibilities of the Office of the Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, as the most senior Deputy Comptroller General. This directive will be effective from Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
“You are encouraged to apply your extensive experience to the role and build upon the ongoing transformation of the Service.”
