The Rhodes Trust Scholarships are prestigious grants that provide financial support to exceptional students from all over the globe, enabling them to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford.

Aim And Benefits Of Scholarship

  • Rhodes Scholars can pursue any full-time postgraduate degree, including the option of completing a BA with senior status over two years, at the University of Oxford.
  • The Trustees can extend the Rhodes Scholarship for a third year if the recipient pursues a recognized path towards a DPhil degree. However, it is important to note that the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and the Masters of Financial Economics (MFE) can only be pursued during the second year of the Scholarship.
  • The Scholarship is typically awarded for two years, depending on the recipient’s academic performance and personal conduct.

Requirements For Scholarship Qualification

The following eligibility criteria apply to all applicants for the Rhodes Scholarship:

  • To be eligible for the scholarship, you must fulfil the citizenship or residency requirements of one of the Rhodes Africa constituencies.These constituencies include Kenya, Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, and Swaziland), West Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, the island of Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, São Tomé and Principe, and Togo), Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
  • Age Requirement: To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be at least 18 years old and not have turned 24 by October 1st in the year of application. The upper age limit may vary depending on the constituency you belong to, so it is important to check the specific age requirements for your constituency before applying.If selected, you will begin your studies at Oxford in October of the following year, and it is impossible to defer the scholarship.
  • Education Requirement: Rhodes Scholars must have completed a Bachelor’s degree before commencing their studies at Oxford.
