The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has now officially approved the nomination of the new Provost of the Federal College of Education, Yola, Adamawa State, Dr. Mohammed Degereji
The College of Education formally publicised the appointment in a statement signed by Bashiru Abdullahi, its Principal Information Officer and made obtainable to news correspondents in Yola, Adamawa state on Monday.
The official statement revealed that the nomination of Dr. Muhammadu Degereji wiil be for a period of four years.
The institution (Federal College of Education, Yola, Adamawa State) has been under the administration of an interim Provost, Prof. Malgwa Johnson, who is anticipated to give way to the newly appointed provost, Dr. Muhammedu Degereji.
It revealed that prior to his appointment, Dr. Muhammadu Degereji had persistently served the institution in very vital leadership positions which included being an interim Deputy Provost, the Dean of School of Science Education, Director, and Head of Department.
Dr. Muhammadu Degereji, erstwhile to this nomination was a senior Lecturer at the department of physics of the institution, serving as the Coordinator of the World Bank of Adamawa State Sponsored Programme for the setting up of education for the drop out children under the sponsorships of better education service available for all.
He (Dr. Muhammadu Degereji) also functioned as the forerunner Director of the College Centre of Excellence also as the Science Research Centre of the institution, where he also exhibited excellent leadership abilities which made his nomination for the current provost position acceptable.
The bio data (information) of the newly nominated Provost of the Federal College of Education revealed that he attained his ‘BSc’ Bachelor of Science (Physics) degree from the University of Maiduguri and had his Master’s degree in Engineering in Electrical Power System from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Bauchi state.
The newly nominated Provost holds a Doctorate from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom with a speciality in Energy Physics.
Dr. Degereji is a member of several national and international professional bodies.
