A Northern group under the supervision of Kaduna Youths Forum (KYF) has tackled the Controller-General of Customs Service, in the person of Col. Hameed Ibrahim, for not employing the youths as measures to fight the higher rate of unemployment and inadequate security in the North.
As reported by the group, there were very high expectations from Ali who was believed to have used his position for Job creations for the unemployed youths.
In a released press statement signed by Ismail Mustapha Soba, the coordinator, the group singled out Col. Ali who they accused of doing nothing relevant to create job opportunities for them (The Youths) after working and canvasing support for the All Progressives Congress to win the 2015 election in the state.
The Youth group in the statement also explained: “We also recalled how we were massively encouraged to join the nationwide protest for the 2012 fuel subsidy in Kaduna that later led to the defeat of the former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s administration.
“When they invited we the Youths for the protest with the Late Former Governor of defunct Kaduna, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, Senator Shehu the former lawmaker and Col. Hameed Ali himself with several high esteemed Nigerians and we protested with the belief that our level of unemployment and the alarming security challenges faced in the North would be a thing of the past.”
The group also noted: “It was expected that Col. Hameed Ali visits Kaduna on a regular basis to feel the pain of the ordinary citizens of the state, and as we speak, he has not found just a second to meet with the youths that volunteered themselves for Buhari’s election victory.
“If nothing changes, we would be left with no other option that to call for his sack. This is because he has not fulfilled the promises he made to us up till this moment”
