2023 Government Scholarships – Czech Government Scholarships for Developing Countries 

The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport provides scholarships to students from developing countries and countries experiencing political and economic transitions. These scholarships are open to students from a range of developing countries.

The Faculty of Social Sciences, with the support of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, can offer a limited number of partial scholarships for students enrolled in fee-based programs. Specific scholarships are reserved for students from developing countries and countries in political and economic transition.

These scholarships, granted by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, aim to support Bachelor’s, Master’s, follow-up Master’s, and Doctoral study programs. The scholarships are available for full-time study and cover the regular duration of the chosen program.

It is important to note that scholarships cannot be transferred to other individuals or academic years. Additionally, once a scholarship is awarded, it is impossible to change the university, study program, or field of study.

The Czech Republic’s Government offers scholarships as part of its Foreign Development Cooperation to support the education of students from developing countries at public universities in the Czech Republic.

Aim and Benefits of Scholarships

  • The scholarship encompasses the essential expenses of living and studying in the Czech Republic. The scholarship amount is frequently updated.
  • Students enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or follow-up Master’s study program receive a monthly payment of CZK 14,000.
  • While students pursuing a Doctoral study program receive a monthly payment of CZK 15,000, the amount paid to students in other study programs is CZK 14,000 monthly.

The scholarships mentioned above include a specific amount intended for covering accommodation expenses.

Scholarship recipients are responsible for covering their accommodation costs, food, and public transportation, following the same conditions as Czech Republic citizens. Students who require health services beyond standard care will need to pay for them themselves.

Requirements for Scholarships Qualification

  • The scholarships specifically aim to support adult students who are citizens of developing third countries and need financial assistance.These scholarships are not available to Czech Republic citizens, European Union citizens or any other foreign nationals with a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic.

    Additionally, individuals under 18 are not eligible for these scholarships, as applicants must be at least 18 years old by September 1st of the year they begin their studies in the Czech Republic.

  • Government scholarships in Bachelor/Master/Doctoral Study Programs and a one-year Preparatory Course in the English language are available to individuals who have completed their education at upper secondary schools or have obtained a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree.These scholarships are specifically for those who wish to enrol in Study Programs that are conducted in English. Depending on the subject area, applicants may be required to take entrance examinations at the relevant higher education institution.

    Successfully passing these entrance examinations is a prerequisite for receiving the scholarship.

  • Government scholarships are granted to individuals who have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s Study Programme and wish to enrol in follow-up Master’s or Doctoral Study Programmes conducted in English. These scholarships are specifically for those who want to study in the WHO programme.

Furthermore, the Scholarship Review Board will evaluate applicants’ academic performance in their previous studies. Preference will be given to students without previous exposure to studying abroad.

How to Apply

Applicants are required to submit an online application form before 30 September 2023 for consideration. The successful candidate will begin their studies in 2024/2025.
