The process of locking your SIM depends on the device you are using. The process for locking it in an iOS device differs from the process of locking it in an Android device. Either way, this post will give you the best guidance you need.

How to Lock your SIM card in an iOS device

To lock your SIM card in your iOS device, here are the steps to follow:

  • Search for the Setting icon on your iOS device and click on it
  • Tap on Mobile Data
  • Click on the area with the “SIM PIN” inscription.
  • Toggle the SIM PIN to On it.
  • Put in your current SIM PIN; if the sim was not locked, you must input your mobile network’s default sim PIN. (MTN-> 0000, Airtel-> 1234, Glo-> 0000, 9mobile-> 0000)

  • Click on Change PIN
  • Enter the default SIM PIN again
  • Insert your new sim pin (Ensure that you can remember it, or write it down so that you won’t have to input the wrong sim pin, thereby leading to your sim blockage.)
  • Click on the Done icon to complete the steps.

Note: Ensure you do not forget your new PIN because your sim may be blocked if you enter the incorrect PIN in up to attempts or more to unlock your sim.

Here are the steps you will follow to lock your SIM card in your Android devices to prevent unauthorized bank transactions;

  • Go to Setting
  • Then tap on Security
  • Click on the SIM card lock
  • Select the SIM card you wish to lock if you are using dual SIM
  • Set up a SIM card lock
  • Put in the default SIM PIN
  • Click on Change Sim PIN
  • Put in your old sim pin or the default pin
  • Enter your new sim PIN
  • Confirm the PIN
  • Click on OK to exit

Note: the default sim pin for each network is as follows:

  • MTN = 0000
  • Airtel = 1234
  • Glo = 0000
  • 9mobile = 0000

With the steps mentioned above, you can now go on to lock your SIM card to prevent unauthorized bank transactions on it.
