The University of Birmingham’s School of Computer Science is excited to announce six scholarships generously funded by DeepMind. These scholarships are available to applicants with either a conditional or unconditional offer for the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

These scholarships aim to increase access to computer science education and enhance diversity in underrepresented groups. The MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is an excellent opportunity for students passionate about AI to pursue a fulfilling career.

Aim And Benefits Of Scholarship

Currently, six scholarships are available, three of which are for UK students and three for international students. The UK scholarships have a value of £34,225 each, which is subtracted from the total cost of the program.

  • The cost of tuition for UK students is £10,980.
  • During the course of their studies, students will receive a maintenance grant of £19,345, which can be used to cover their living expenses. The grant will be paid in instalments.
  • The course provides financial support of a maximum of £2,200 for students to participate in an international conference related to AI and/or Machine Learning. Moreover, students can receive £1,700 to buy necessary equipment such as a suitable laptop.

Three scholarships are offered for international students with a total value of £52,565. The scholarship amount will be used to cover the expenses related to the scholarship.

  • The cost of tuition for international students is £27,540.
  • During the course of study, students will receive a maintenance grant of £19,345, which can be used to cover their living expenses. The grant will be paid in instalments.
  • The course offers financial support of a maximum of £2,200 to cover expenses for attending an AI and/or Machine Learning international conference. Additionally, students can receive up to £1,700 to purchase necessary equipment, such as a suitable laptop.
  • The course provides up to £1,870 in financial aid to help students with moving costs.

Requirements For Scholarship Qualification

Individuals who want to apply for the scholarship must satisfy either one or both of the following requirements:

  • Indicate your gender as female. OR Specify your ethnicity as Black African, Black Caribbean, or another Black ethnic background.

Additionally, applicants are required to meet the following:

  • If necessary, show they would need financial aid to accept the admission offer.
  • The individual has been given an offer to pursue the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program at the University of Birmingham, which could be conditional or unconditional.
  • To be eligible for the program, the individual must either be a UK resident and considered as such for fee payment purposes or be categorized as an international student for fee payment purposes.

How To Apply

Only those who have received an offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program are eligible to submit their applications.

International Applicant Process And Deadline:

  • If you have been offered a place in the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program, you will receive an email from us with a direct link to apply for the DeepMind scholarship.

This email will also be sent to those who already hold an offer. It’s important to note that international applications for this program follow a gathered field admissions process with three official stages of consideration.

  • The deadline for submitting the scholarship application will be June 4th, 2023.
  • In the initial two weeks of June 2023, the scholarship committee will review the applications and select a group of potential candidates for an interview. Those who are considered suitable will be contacted directly. If you are selected, you will receive further details about the interview process.

UK Applicant Process And Deadline:

  • After the Admissions Office offers you a place, you will receive an email containing a direct application link that you can use to apply for the DeepMind scholarship. You will receive the same email if you already have an offer.
  • The deadline for submitting your scholarship application will be July 23, 2023.
  • The selection process will involve creating a list of potential candidates, and those who meet the necessary criteria will be notified for an interview by the conclusion of July 2023. Additional details about the process will be communicated to successful applicants.
