2024 Annual Flood Outlook in Nigeria: See list of 31 States at High Risk of Flooding, Delta and Lagos State Included
According to the 2024 Annual Flood Outlook in Nigeria, an intense flood will occur between April and November 2024 in Nigeria. The effects of this flood will be severe in 31 out of the 36 states in Nigeria.
The Minister of Water Resources, Prof Joseph Utsev, announced this while conveying the 2024 Annual flood outlook in Nigeria to Journalists.
He further stated that 31 out of the 36 states in Nigeria that have been detected to be prone to flood are high-risk flood areas, while others will experience mild floods.
It disclosed that 31 out of the 36 states in Nigeria would experience intense flooding in Nigeria and that 148 Local government areas in Delta, Lagos and 28 other states should prepare.
The governors of the states mentioned have shown their readiness and preparedness to demolish and destroy buildings beside the river areas, relocate them, and clear out the drainage systems.
These 31 states that are prone to intense floods between April and November 2024, as announced by the Annual Flood Outlook 2024 in Nigeria, include:

- Cross River

- Ogun
- Oyo
- Plateau
- Rivers

These are the high flood-risk areas according to the 2024 Annual Flood Outlook in Nigeria. Therefore, it is advised that all residents living near river channels should relocate during this time to avoid loss of properties.
