FG should invest recovered loot in Education – Femi Falana

Date:

The Nigeria Labour Congress ‘NLC’ and all its entire unions has on Tuesday rebelled warnings by the Federal Government of Nigeria and has took to the roads of major areas in the country to protest against the disappointment of the Federal Government of Nigeria to suspend the ongoing Five month ‘ASUU’ Academic Staff Union of Universities strike.

Precisely, the Nigeria Labour Congress stated that the fund the two major political parties in the country – the All Progressives Congress ‘APC’ and Peoples Democratic Party ‘PDP’ – has made from the sales of forms to the presidential aspirants could address ASUU’s claims.

In Akwa Ibom state, Mr Uche Nweke who was the representative of the Nigeria Labour Congress National Chairman, Mr Ayuba Wabba, condemned the claims that there were no funds at all to meet the demands of ASUU.

“The fund realised by the two major parties from the sales of presidential aspirant forms would have been more than enough to put ASUU, and the universities on their feet. We the workers in Nigeria are the most sympathetic people. We hereby call upon all the national leadership in the country to hearken to the opinion of reason, and do whatsoever it takes to let our children return back to school” Mr Uche said

Apart from Akwa Ibom state, other states including Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Kwara, Enugu, Benue, Sokoto, Lagos and Plateau also witnessed the protest.

Also, the Human rights activists and lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), also took part in the NLC protest, and requested that the Federal Government of Nigeria should invest recovered loot in Education.
“We calling on the Federal government, that we are tired and enough is enough. Let them stop lying to our people, they do have money. President Buhari should collect money from 10 looters to suspend this strike. Just last week, about N119bn was looted”.
