Legislative Bye-Elections: APC and PDP Release the 2024 Timetable and Amount For the Sale of the Form

APC and PDP the two main parties that are in opposition to each other have released their timetable for the 2024 Legislative Bye-Elections. They released the dates for candidates to start the purchase of forms for the Senatorial seat, House of Assemble seat and House of Representative seats respectively.
This they did following the INEC Legislative Bye-Election timetable for the election of new persons to fill in the vacant seats in the Legislative Council.
Here is the timetable with the expression of interest and the nomination form price for the respective seats in each political party.

APC Legislative Bye-Election Timetable and the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form price
The timetable for the All Progressive Congress (APC)’s 2024 Legislative Bye-Election was released on Monday 25th December 2023 and was signed by the party’s National Organizing secretary, Sulaimon Agungu.

Date to begin the sale of Nomination, expression of interest, and delegates form to contestant -> December 27, 2023
Deadline -> January 2nd, 2024
Date for the Primary Election -> January 6, 2024
Date fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct the Legislative Bye-Election -> February 3, 2024
Price for the sale of forms for the Senatorial, House of Representative and House of Assembly seats
- Senatorial form sale: N20 million
- House of Representative form sale: N10 million
- House of Assembly Form sale: N2 million
PDP Legislative Bye-Election Timetable and the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form price
The Bye Election Timetable for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was released on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, by the party’s national Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature.

Date to begin the sale of Nomination, expression of interest, and delegates form to contestant -> December 28, 2023
Deadline -> January 3rd, 2024
Date for the Primary Election -> January 9, 2024
While the date fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the Legislative Bye-Election -> February 3, 2024

Price for the sale of forms for the Senatorial, House of Representative and House of Assembly seats

- State House of Assembly Form sale: N600,000
Concessions For Youths, Females and People living with Disability
However, both parties agreed on slashing some of the sales prices for the benefit of the youths, females and the disabled among them. And here is what they conceded on:
- Female aspirants and disabled people are to pay only for the expression of interest but the bye=election nomination form is free for them
- Youths from 25 to 40 years old are to purchase the expression of interest form, while they will get a 50% discount on the purchase of the bye-election nomination form
What led to conducting a Legislative Bye-Election for the senatorial seats, House of Assembly and House of Representative seats was a result of the demise and resignation of its members.
As stated by the NationalCommissioner and Chairman Information Voter Education Committee ” the vacancies occurred across two senatorial districts, four federal constituencies and three state constituencies, covering a total of nine states in the federation.”
Political Parties and candidates are hereby advised to strictly adhere to the given timeline to enable the Independent National Electoral Commission to effectively conduct the elections.
