So if you don’t really fancy the idea of going down with your laptop, it’s best to switch I off.

Hold the power button for five to seven seconds until it’s totally off. Don’t waste time in switching the computer off, the longer you wait the more damaged the components become. The quicker you turn off the machine the more chances you have in saving it.

If the computer can be disassembled (If permitted by the user guide), make sure to remove the battery, some laptops eject the battery after pulling the latch, others need to be unscrewed, if you’re comfortable doing so, go ahead otherwise leave it shut.

Step 3: examine each component you removed in step 1. Check for any sign of wetness or corrosion. Any wet parts should be dried, but if the liquid is anything other than water, wipe it off using a clean toothbrush dipped fully in isopropyl alcohol.

Step 4: once everything has been properly examined and free from signs of corrosion, leave it to dry for a minimum of two-three days in a warm, dry area. Once more do not use a hairdryer to hasten the process, as it can result in static problems. Once you’re done with the drying process and of course. Reverse the removal effect and put the laptop back to its original state. Switch it on and see how it works.
