NiMET Weather Forecast: A 3-day Thunderstorm and Sunshine in Nigerian

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has predicted a 3-day thunderstorm and sunshine in the country. They predicted that this weather change will start from Friday 5, April 2024.

According to the Weather Outlook released by NiMET on Thursday – A sunny atmosphere will be seen in the Northern region on Friday, and a thunderstorm will be in parts of Kebbi, Zamfara and Kaduna States during the afternoon and evening.

“During the morning hours in the North-central Region, there will be a sunny sky with few cloud patches, and later in the days, an isolated thunderstorms will be seen in parts of Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kogi and Kwara State,” the agency further stated.

“The Southern Region should be cloudy with spells of sunshine: more cloud buildup is expected around the coastal areas, with chances of thunderstorm in parts of Lagos, Cross River and Akwa Ibom state in the morning hours”.

“Later in the days, Isolated thunderstorms are expected in the South West Inland, including some parts of Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states”.

On Saturday, NiMET predicts sunny skies with few cloud patches in the Northwestern parts while sunny and dry in some North-Eastern parts during the morning hours.

Later in the day, an isolated thunderstorm is anticipated over parts of Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, and Kaduna States. The North-Central region will be sunny with few cloud patches during the morning hours.

Also, an isolated thunderstorm is expected over some parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kogi and Kwara States later in that day, and the Southern region will be cloudy will patches of sunshine and more cloud buildup is expected in the coastal parts.

Isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, Enugu, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Bayelsa State.

On Sunday, the Northern and North-Central regions will have sunny skies with few cloud patches. Still, there will be chances of an isolated thunderstorm in the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara and Kogi states, during the morning hours, including Nasarawa and Plateau State during the day.

NiMET predicts isolated thunderstorms in Ekiti, Rivers, Delta, Ondo, Osun, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa, and Lagos States.

“Strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur. The public should take adequate precautions,” it further stated.
