What is Creativity? And Why Is It Essential For Survival
In the backward dystopian society we’ve all been treading on, it’ll be only righteous to indicate that there is no acute foresight of better days.
Its quite sad to say that the society we’ve been striving to modernize has gradually started to revert to its primitive settings figuratively, a setting in which “survival of the fittest” becomes the appropriate theme, that is to say, only people with a speculative set of skills can survive.
The jungle we call a society pays respect to only certain individuals a huge portion of them happens to discreetly value academic qualifications over creativity, as odd as it might sound many individuals are still holding on tightly to the idea that academic qualifications are indeed the only thing that can guarantee a man’s survival.
That statement alone is sponsored by gross ignorance, on the streets of popular cities across the globe, we can conclude that they all possess similarities, aside from having trees and buildings they are also infested with hundred to thousands of youths still scurrying around with academic credentials stuffed In a leather bag, frog jumping from one institute to another all in the name of searching for a job just to survive.
A lot of people are still finding it difficult to understand that what becomes a determinant for one’s survival all depends on how flexible he/she is, the ability to adapt, and most especially how well he/she can innovate, procreate and very much conceive and give birth to new ideas, in short how creative he/she is.
What is creativity?
This is the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful In solving problems, communicating, and for entertainment.
Inarguably everyone while advancing in age outgrows their imaginations due to the infringing sense of doubt that brings about the self-delusion that their imaginations would only engage them in an impractical pursuit and eventually get them nowhere.
But if the case was so the likes of Mark Zuckerberg, Edison Thomas, Gabrielle Coco Chanel, and many more won’t come out and scribe down books on how to survive, they won’t exist as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs and the likes of “Facebook“, “the women’s suit” and “the light bulb” would never exist in this reality.
This set of individuals gave their imaginations a try and with what they’ve implanted in the human society the most definitely gave creativity a meaning in the dictionary.
Why is Creativity Essential for Survival?
like earlier stated the number of wandering jobless youths is increasing daily at an alarming rate and with a society already themed as a jungle how can one survive when academic qualifications can’t pave the way to success?
Many can testify that their white-collar jobs have still given them reasons to experience a hand-to-mouth life, and with poverty being the order of the day what can be a means of survival?
Coco Chanel found a way to make income by just combining jasmine and several other floral scents, and one of the world ranking perfume “CHANEL” was created.
She didn’t only create a new fashion sensation she was also able to elevate herself from poverty by introducing a collarless, braid-trimmed cardigan jacket with a grace skirt, otherwise known as the woman’s suit, which of course attracted a lot of cash as every market wanted to sell it, mainly because they found out that every woman wanted to have one of those in their wardrobes,
Steve jobs accompanied by Steve Wozniak revolutionized the computer industry by simply applying the knowledge they had about computers, even though it was just a creative thought, they were able to design the Apple II.
We all know how big the company has become. It’ll be only proper to imagine the amount of income they’ll have made over the years as words alone won’t be able to quantify it, creativity is what brings about significance as we can rightly deduce from the context above. Any individual can create a website or blog, but it is creativity that decides if it becomes another WordPress or not.
If we were to browse through job offers on different website resources we would see that many companies are now looking for a creative specialist with a high tolerance for stress, simply because of the tight competition in the open market, any innovation of any sort can determine a massive failure or success rate.
Even without a job, a guy who puts four different colored ink tubes into a single biro casing would be able to make a living by selling them, and why would that be possible?
It is simply because he applied a little creativity to the plain product, by adding a series of tubes to give a regular biro an attractive sight, a sight that kids and adults wouldn’t only want to behold, but also acquire, you don’t have to sell biro before recording success in life.
Many people over the years have found out that uttering out their feelings and accompanying them with musical beats has become a paying job, the whole concept of creativity being a means of survival starts with how well an individual markets him/herself.
