How to exit and delete a group on WhatsApp as the Group’s Admin

As the group admin, to exit and delete a group, you have to remove other group members, and there are guidelines for removing other group members from a particular group before exiting and deleting it:

Open the WhatsApp group chats
Tap on the group name
Click on the beside the group name
Click on Remove > Remove

After you have removed all other group members, you can now exit and delete the group.

To be able to delete a group, you have to exit the group first and here are the steps to take:

Open Whatsapp on the Web or Desktop
Tap on the group chat to open
Click on the group name/subject
Tap on
Click on exit

Alternatively, you can search your chat list to locate the group you want to exit, click the icon, and complete steps 4 and 5 above.

Only the group admin will be notified if you exit the group, and you can still see the group on WhatsApp till it is deleted.

How to Delete a Group

After you have exited the group, you can now proceed to delete the group by following the procedure below:

Open the WhatsApp group chat and click on the group name/subject
Tap on Delete Group
Then, click on the Delete button

Note: Restoring any group once it is deleted is impossible. Also, the processes for exiting and deleting a group on WhatsApp are the same for both members and group admin; the only difference is that the group must remove other group members before exiting the group.
