Nigerian Air Force Direct Short Service Commission 2024 (DSSC) Course: How to Apply and Requirements for Application

The Nigerian Air Force recently announced a recruitment for the Direct Short Service Commission and has asked all eligible Nigerians to apply for the different professions.

The Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) is a type of NAF commission open to civilians and serving military personnel. The Course provides the avenue for the enlistment of degree holders who are professionals in specified fields. The training period for this type of commission is usually six months of intensive military training, and successful candidates are commissioned into the rank of Flying Officer.

The registration or application for the recruitment started on January 29, 2024, and will end on March 11, 2024. The Air Force asked all graduates and post-graduate Nigerians to apply for the Direct Short Service Cadet in various professions.

All applicants who wish to apply for the recruitment must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower Division if they are a first-degree holder and Lower Credit for HND holders.

Requirements for Application

1) Applicants must be Nigerian Citizens by origin or birth

2) Must be between the ages of 20 and 30 years (25-40 for medical consultants) by December 15, 2024

3) Your Birth date must not be before December 15, 1994 (and December 15, 1984, for medical consultants)

4) All applicants must not be less than 1.66m for males and 1.63m for females

5) Applicants must be physically, mentally and psychologically fit and must meet the Nigerian Air Force medical and employment standard

6) Applicants’ Local Government Area Attestation Form must be signed by a military officer from the same State as the applicants and not below the rank of Wing Commander in the Nigerian Air Force or equivalent in the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy or a Police Officer of the rank of Assistant Commissioner and above, or Local Government Chairman/Secretary, Magistrate and Principals of Secondary Schools attended by applicants can also sign the Attestation Form.

The Local Government Area Attestation Form must accompany the passport photograph and photocopy of the signees’ driver’s license, National ID Card, or International Passport. The signee is also to authenticate behind the applicant’s passport photograph.

7) Successful applicants are required to submit their original credentials for scrutiny at the Selection Board Interview Exercise. The credentials include the following:

  1. Two recent passport-size photographs are to be stamped and countersigned by an officer of the appropriate rank specified in Paragraph 6.
  2. Original and photocopy of birth certificate or Declaration of Age.
  3. Original and photocopy of educational/professional Certificates.
  4. Original and photocopy of Indigeneship certificate from applicant’s Local Government/State of Origin.
  5. Original and photocopy of Attestation to Good Character signed by Officer of appropriate rank as specified in paragraph 6

8) Any applicant suspected of impersonating or submitting false document(s) shall be disqualified from the Selection Exercise. Also, any false declaration detected later may lead to withdrawal from training.

Such applicants will be handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution. The Nigerian Air Force will not entertain any enquiries regarding applicants whose applications have been rejected.

9) On completion of the application forms, applicants must print out the under-listed documents:

  • Acknowledgement Form.
  • Parent/Guardians Consent Form.
  • Local Government Area Attestation Form

10) Successful applicants will be invited to the Selection Board Interview Exercise through the portal www.nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng. In addition to this, email and phone numbers could be used as deemed necessary.

11) Interested applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower Division for holders of the first degree and Lower Credit for HND holders. In addition, applicants must possess credit in English Language and Mathematics and degree courses of study. Computer literacy will be an added advantage.

12) Applicants must possess an NYSC Discharge Certificate or Letter of Exemption from NYSC when applying for DSSC.

13) Applicants must possess certificates of full registration with their respective statutory professional bodies in Nigeria, where applicable.

  • After reading it, proceed to the bottom of the page and click the Start Application button.
  • Read the instructions given to you, confirm that you have read them, and click Continue.
  • Put in your phone number and click on the Next button.
